About Us

Morrisania Band Project (MBP) is the Bronx’s premier award-winning R&B soul collective, dedicated to bringing vibrancy to the borough through music, cultural pride, and community engagement since 2016.

Led by powerhouse vocalist Elissa Carmona, MBP has been recognized by the Ponce Bank Best of the Bronx Awards as the Best Cover Band an unparalleled three times (2022, 2023, & 2025). Elissa Carmona was also voted Best Singer from the Bronx in 2024 and 2025. MBP’s dynamic live performances and tributes to funk, soul, and rock legends have cemented the group as a cornerstone of the borough’s cultural identity.

2024-2025 Highlights and Achievements

The Vibe, The Wins, and The Mission

Award-Winning Status: Voted Best Cover Band in the Bronx three times and led by Best Singer from the Bronx (2024 & 2025).
Residency & Touring: The Soul Expedition Residency at our home base, The Artist on City Island, continues monthly due to popular demand (next shows: November 7th, The Harvest Vibe & December 5th, Soulful Holiday).
National Reach: Completed a spring residency in New Orleans in April 2025 during French Quarter Fest. This experience launched From R&B to Jazz: A Musical Journey, an evolving project deepening MBP’s sound by blending the authentic energy of jazz and soul.
Community & Grants: Awarded the 2024 NYC Green Fund Grassroots Grant supporting community arts. Ongoing work includes the successful “Sing with SOUL” program for seniors and consistent support from the Bronx Council on the Arts and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs.
Live Footprint: Featured performances at the NYC Marathon, Yankees Opening Day, Bronx Week, and multiple media features (News 12 Bronx, BronxNet).
