About Us
Morrisania Band Project (MBP) is an award-winning R&B soul collective founded in 2016, dedicated to bringing vibrancy to the Bronx through music, cultural pride, and community engagement. Known for dynamic live performances and tributes to funk, soul, and rock legends, MBP also creates original music that speaks to social issues like gun violence, disaster relief, and sickle cell disease.
Led by Elissa Carmona, 2024’s “Best Singer from the Bronx”, MBP was voted “Best Cover Band from the Bronx” in both 2022 and 2023 by Ponce Bank’s Best of the Bronx Awards. The group has become a cornerstone of the borough’s cultural identity.

2024-2025 Highlights and Achievements
2024 Highlights:
• Launched the “Soul Odyssey” concert series, performing over 75 shows across NYC and the Hudson Valley
• Featured performances at the NYC Marathon, Yankees Opening Day, Bronx Week, Make Music Day, Friends of 4 Parks Social, and the Bronx Music Hall unveiling • Awarded the 2024 NYC Green Fund Grassroots Grant supporting community-driven arts through 2025
• Two News 12 Bronx features and multiple BronxNet broadcasts
• Residency at The Artist extended through 2025 due to popular demand
2025 and Beyond: MBP is currently in residence at The Artist (next show: Saturday, June 7, 8–10 PM), with ongoing support from the Bronx Council on the Arts and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs. This monthly series is part of the new 2025 Soul Expedition concert series.
MBP recently completed a spring residency in New Orleans (April 8–16, 2025) during French Quarter Fest, performing three times including a standout moment at the legendary Dew Drop Inn’s Wednesday night jam session. This work launches From R&B to Jazz: A Musical Journey, an evolving project that deepens MBP’s sound by blending jazz and soul.

2023 Evolution of Soul
We provided live entertainment and arts activities to nursing homes and senior centers through SU-CASA, a city-funded initiative that enriches the lives of NYC’s senior citizen population.
