Morrisania Band Project (also known as MBP) is an award-winning R&B soul collective founded in September 2016. Our mission is to add vibrancy to the South Bronx through music, community engagement, and social initiatives.
In 2022 and 2023, MBP was voted best cover band in the Ponce Bank Best of the Bronx competition, highlighting our strong community connection. We deliver soul-stirring tributes to legendary funk, rock, and soul artists, and creates original music that promotes awareness for issues like gun violence, disaster relief, and sickle cell disease.
In 2023, MBP achieved significant milestones, solidifying our connection with communities, citywide. We had the honor of performing at the 14th annual Multicultural Fest, a two-concert series hosted by the New York African Chorus Ensemble, with Mayor Eric Adams in attendance. Our performances at the Richmond County Fair, Italian Fest at Mount Loretto, and the Queens and Bronx Night Markets garnered enthusiastic audience participation. We also contributed to NYC’s dynamic nightlife scene, with appearances at Silvana and Rockwood Music Hall.
In 2022, MBP was selected for the Communitas Ventures accelerator program and named Ponce Bank’s best cover band in the Bronx. We provided live entertainment and arts activities to nursing homes and senior centers through SU-CASA, a city-funded initiative that enriches the lives of NYC’s senior citizen population.
From March through December 2023, MBP will present the 2023 Evolution of Soul, a series of free live concerts throughout NYC through support from Citizens Committee for New York City and Bronx Council on the Arts. Follow us on Instagram @MorrisaniaBand for all scheduled concerts.
